Priorities @65

Today is India’s 65th Independence day. Today MMS will hoist the trio from Red fort and lecture the nation on upholding the high standard of integrity, remain patriotic and remain true to the nation. But I will be surprized if his speech will be able to lift the spirit of the nation. Unfortunately, over all दशा & दिशा of the nation is such that it is difficult to remain optimistic about our great nation’s future. Even after 65 years of independence it seems like we have been at the same cross roads from where we had started. Going forward challenges are plenty and we look ill prepared to tackle them. To me following are some of the biggest threats nation is facing as of now and need to fix them ASAP.

1. Menace of Corruption :

Needless to say menace of corruption is eating up the nation as Termite eats the wood. Since last couple of years, it’s been a raining season of corruption scams. Kalmadis, Rajas, Karunandihis and other politicians are setting the new benchmarks of scam figures with each scam. The blood and sweat mixed hard earned money of nation is going to Swiss bank accounts and in the pocket of our thick skinned politicians. The money which should have been used to build the nation is being used for the construction of the plush mansions of our corrupt politicos. Moral values is almost zero in our current lot of politicians. Even if I think hard, I can’t even find one politician who has held the high moral ground and is genuinely interested in serving the nation. Such is the pathetic state of our current politico system. Nation should take the task of cleansing the current political system with utmost priority. Fortunately, I can see the light at the end of tunnel. Anna Hazare has taken up this task for the nation. I hope he and his crusaders with the support of nation will bring much needed change for the nation. So Good luck to Annaji!!

2. Internal & External Security Threats :

Terrorism is another menace which should be dealt with iron hands. But I see least willingness from our current government to fight this menace. Every now and then innocent people loose their lives in terror attacks and government is just good at appraising the resilience of people and throwing the loaf of compensation money in front of victim’s family. Government has failed miserably in protecting the lives of it’s citizen time and again. Time has come for government to realize that it’s enough now….. value the life of citizen. Value of citizen is much more than the 200,000 INR compensation government is giving. Time has come to shed the vote bank politics and to do something concrete to strengthen the internal security and protect the lives of citizen.

From the External security point of view also we have been least fortunate to have neighbours like China and Pakistan. Despite of evident Anti India sentiments of Pak and China, we keep trusting them and keep getting stabbed in our back time and again. We as a growing power house in world, it is time that we become more assertive to safeguard our national interests. Why we need to go crying at the doorsteps of uncle SAM and ask uncle SAM to punish our neighbours for their wrong doings. In my personal opinion peace talks with Pak is not going to result in smoother relations and if we are hopeful about the results of peace talks we should at least be more demanding in talks to safeguard our interests. The aim of the peace talks should be to safeguard our interests rather than reinstating good relationships with neighbours at the cost of lives of innocent people.

3. Lull in the political leadership :

Before 1947, we were ruled by the queen and today also the situation remains the same. No matter how many denials come from MMS he is mere a puppet and front face of queen. Indians should realize that we are democratic nation and not a kingdom which can be ruled by one family generations after generations. And even if we accept the dynastic rulers, it’s bitter fact that dynastic rulers have not done good to the nation. So first priority should be to get rid of dynastic politics and giving chance to able leadership.  Also, siting the reason of compulsions of coalition politics all the wrong doings are just ignored. To counter the problems of coalition politics we need some strong leaders who can make all the parties to toe the line of the government. India need visionary leader who can push the development agenda for the nation and assertive leader who can keep all the coalition partners in check. Also, We definitely need the infusion of young blood into politics to replace our thick skinned aging politicos. (Definitely, our Yuvraj is not going to help in this cause)

4. Reinstate citizens pride in being Indian :

As I mentioned the state in which India right now, it does not look so encouraging. For common man, unprecedented high cost of living  is killing them softly every day. Rich is getting richer and poor is getting poorer. Common man has been so busy in meeting his both ends that he doesn’t have time to think about country. It’s general belief amongst the common man that he is not getting anything from the country. In such a case how common man can feel pride in being citizen of India or why he should think about giving back to the nation? Reigniting the passion for the nation in the hearts of it’s citizen is important. Need is to develop overall cohesive environment for the Citizens in which they feel themselves encouraged to perform their civic duties with honesty and remain more attached to the nation. Patriotism is not the thing which needs to be shown only on 15th August and 26th January. I am not sure about how to get such change on ground but something needs to be done in time.

Above are my priorities for India at 65. Hope some of the things will improve by the time it turns 66.

Despite of all the odds and hardships, India and Indians remains unique and I murmur following song while remembering my heartland.

God bless my country….

Muslims in Gujarat

L. K. Advani on his blog mentions that Muslims in Narendra Modi’s Gujarat are in far better situation compared to other states of Gujarat. He sites the finding of the Sachar committee report to support his this claim. Well, I read report’s findings & figures put up on his blog and statistically one can agree with what Mr. Advani has to say. I don’t read much into these figure as figures sometimes may be misleading and don’t portray true picture. But by saying that I don’t want to take away credit from Mr. Modi. One thing which I really appreciate is during Mr. Modi’s rule poor & common man has not lost single day’s wage because of the communal riots, curfews & tense situations. In Congress raj, every now & then poor people suffered because of the riots and can not go out to earn their rozi roti. I definitely see this as an achievement of Mr. Modi.

I read about this on DeshGujarat. On this post, I also read the comment of one of the Muslim guy. He had put up some suggestion on what Mr. Modi’s government should do in his comment point wise and after reading that I also put up my thoughts in form of comment to his points. Following is what I commented point wise :

Instructing Police to be cordial to Muslims especially Muslim institutions which should not be harrassed on mere suspicion without evidences.

Why police should give free hand to Muslim organisation? Don’t you think many times RSS or other Hindu sangathans are also victimised? So your belief that only Muslim organisations are being targeted is incorrect.

Instructing Intelligence Agencies to shed off their pre-conceived notions that all Islamic organisations stand for terror.

It’s bitter fact that not all Muslims are terrorist but all terrorists are Muslims. It’s very bitter thing to accept but it’s truth also. Many bombers/terrorists are very innocent but their real innocence comes out only when they attempt for terror acts. Recent example is the Pakistani born US citizen who did the failed attempt to do bomb blast in New York. None of his neighbors even doubted his conduct but in the end he did something really insane. By doing all these Muslims only harming to the Muslims world over. If Muslims continue doing such things who is going to allow them to rent the house, give job, etc. And after doing all this Muslims cry about discrimination? Is this fair? In India, Muslims are treated in utmost fair manner but still they are not happy n taking the path of violence than only allah can save Islam and Muslims.

Framing rules to allow Muslims to purchase properties in any given area from any developers

Now you are asking for reservation even in real estate sector. It’s really sad that politicians of our country have made Muslims of our country so handicapped by throwing the bites of reservation at them every now & then. I stay in Singapore and here housing sector is by and large controlled by government i.e. 75% of the houses here are built and managed by government and rest 25% is open for private players. In government controlled estates, they do have quotas for each race but in private sector they don’t enforce such thing. But still people of different races have formed the packets by buying and stay together in private properties. So it’s human tendency to stay with the people of the same race. Also, forcing such things may work in Singapore because larger part of the real estate market is controlled by government while in India, exactly opposite scenario is there. So I think forcing private players to give reservation in property is not fair. Pls come out of the reservation mentality.

Also, in this point I would like to mention one more thing. When Muslims want to stay within community, they should learn to respect the sensitivities of other races and religions. I remember when I was in Mumbai and staying in Borivali, we had few Muslim houses in our near by locality. We also had jain temple near by. On the day of Bakri id, despite of requesting them, Muslims were butchering the goat in front of temple gates. Do you think it was absolutely required? Why you don’t respect the sensitivities of other religions? This is also one of the reason why Hindu societies doesn’t allow Muslims. If I talk about Singapore, here government doesn’t allow butchering the goat in open on ids. Govt. allows sacrifice of goat only in mosque and then all have to take mutton from the mosque only. As Indian citizen we have fundamental right of liberty and freedom of expression but while exercising these rights one must realise that he/she should be sensitive enough to others.

Instruct various ministries to encourage Muslim groups to build institutins like Schools, Colleges, Hospitals and not create obstacles in doing so

Why government should encourage only Muslim schools and institute. Government has just one race to take care? You have your own system in forms of Madresas. Why don’t you try to strengthen this traditional system rather then developing parallel system. Try to remove radical elements out of it and strengthen the system and encourage the well being of the communities rather than breeding anti social elements.

Include Muslims in formulating developmental policies

If you want Muslims say in formulating policies then ask people from your community to take part in democratic process and get elected and take part in formulating policies. Join mainstream and contribute in positive way rather than relying on government to do it for you. Be a good to society and they will definitely take care of you.

Curb extreme and fascist movements for the larger interest of the society

curbing extremist from society has to be done by Muslims only. When government takes some harsh steps to curb extremist, Muslim organisations only start shouting. Your strengthen the grass root system in such a way that radical elements can not brain wash the youth easily. Government can only play a supportive role into this I think.

While I put this on blog, one thing I need to clarify is I don’t have anything personal against this guy or against Muslim community. I had and even in today’s date I have some Muslim friends who have been very gentle and nice. I am writing this only to express my view points on some of the misunderstanding most of the Muslims have in their minds. I’m firmly against the populist and minority appeasement policies of government and when I talk about minority it’s not only Muslims but any minority community.

I don’t know how ethical it is to throw upon someone’s comment from other blog on my blog. But I’m doing this as I think I’m not harming interest of any one, I’m not trying to violate any one’s privacy and I’m not humiliating / bringing disrespect to any human being or race in general. However, if someone has objection, pls revert by putting comment.

My name is Khan n I’m not terrorist

આજે મૂવી “My Name is Khan” જોયું. “My Name is Khan” બહુ અવાસ્તવિક લાગે છે.
